Backup Button
When you click this button, a copy of the current database records is copied to a backup file in the Calculator.Database.Location and named Fueldata.Bak. You may prefer to do this before Rebuilding the database or as a regular security operation. The Old.Records panel will display the number of records backed up and the Last.Backup Date will show today's computer date.
Restore Button
When you click this button, the Fueldata.Bak file is copied to the current Fueldata.fdb database. Be aware that the Current database will be Destroyed. You should only use this function if you are sure that the Current database is corrupt or you want to return to a previous version. If the Last.Backup panel displays Not.Valid then you have never backed up your database and an error message will be displayed. Other warnings are implemented where appropriate.
Rebuild Button
When you Rebuild the database, all Entry.Dates are sorted into chronological order. You may have entered historical data or a Zero record which has been dated to the current computer date. You can change these dates using the Amend function in the Browsing section.
You may have records marked for deletion, also known as Garbage. You can choose to delete these records by ticking the Delete.Garbage box before rebuilding the database. When the rebuild function has completed, the panels will display the number of Old.Records, the number of New.Records, and the numer of Garbage records found.
If you do not tick Delete.Garbage, then the number of Old.Records, and the number of New.Records will be equal, but the number of records marked for deletion will still be displayed for information. Invalid records are never deleted as they may include some details you want to retain. If you want to Delete Invalid records then you must Mark them as Garbage prior to using this facility.
Database Location
This is the Folder or Directory of the current Program and Database records. All new files are always created in this location.
